Derek Brien
Location: - Senior Race - 1st September 2006
Camera: Canon EOS 1D - 600mm
Comments: Derek Brien, one half to the closest finish in 99 years of
Mountain course history
when he finished just 0.1 seconds behind Craig Atkinson in the Junior
Race.
No one deserve's to lose by that margin but the consolation is it will
be a race to pass into TT folklore.

Comments: the bikes are traveling at 120mph straight after a long spoon
shaped left hander, very tricky with a wide variety of lines and probably
only a handful of riders got this absolutely right.
The TT and the Manx Grand Prix could not be more different than what
they are, and thats a good thing for all concerned.
While the TT has shrunk the classes to just 600 and 1000cc the Manx can
boast a wide variety of machines from 125cc and 250 2-strokes to classics
aswell as the usual 600 and 750 fare.
The race that we will talk about in the years to come was the Junior MGP
when Craig Atkinson narrowly beat Derek Brien. Starting together on the
road at No1 and 2 they duked it out swopping the lead for over 150 miles
never more than a few machine lengths apart to cross the line almost neck
and neck with only 0.1 seconds the difference, fantastic stuff to witness.
