Check out the boxer dog sticking his head out of the railings, I swear
He only watches the fast guys, legend has it he even woofed on JMc's 130
lap last year, honest.
Nick Crowe and Mark Cox swept to a well deserved double Sidecar TT victory
taking Nicks win tally to 5, but boy did they have to work for it in the
second race.
Arch rivals Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle were literally in touching distance
for the last 2 laps but 10 seconds behind on corrected time as they both
flashed across the finish line, it was some spectacle proving this local
pair are still someway ahead of the pack.
The question remains if Tim Reeves can join them after an amazing TT debut,
the Sidecar World Champion has proved the doubters wrong finishing in
third place with passenger Patrick Farrance in race 1,
Fittingly the late great Jock Taylor is the only other driver to achieve
a podium in their first year, the Scot was also the last world sidecar
champion to compete on the Island.
After the disqualification in Supersport race A Bruce Anstey had a point
to prove in the second 600 Junior.
The Kiwi was initially pushed hard by Ian Hutchinson but broke the lap
record to control the race from the front eventually heading the AIM Yamaha
by almost 30 seconds at the flag with an excellent third for Ryan Farquhar
on the Harker Kawasaki.
The Senior TT was one of the closest races ever seen with the first three
riders, Anstey, Mcguiness and Donald covered by under a second at the
end of the first 37& 3/4 mile lap.
Anstey was to drop out with mechanical failure as they pitted at the end
of lap 2 leaving Donald and Mcguiness to duke it out for the remaining
4 laps.
The lead swapped constantly and going into the last lap Australian Donald
was over 5 seconds ahead and looking for a TT treble, then at Glen Helen
Mcguiness who had endured some terrible luck all week was 9 seconds in
the lead.
An oil leak on the Suzuki had robbed this epic race of a Grandstand finish,
John continued to pull out an advantage of nearly a minute at the flag
to record his 14th win, putting the popular Morcambe man second equal
with Mike Hailwood in the all time winners list, only the great Joey Dunlop
has more with 26.
For the first time the 125 and 250 classes ran on the 4.25 mile Billown
circuit near Castletown.
Chris Palmer and Ian Lougher added the 125 and 250 TT wins respectively
to their tally.
So that was TT 2008, the start of the next century for this unique, historic
event, the future looks bright, so bring your shades for 2009!!
